Included in the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park are Dr. King’s childhood home on Auburn Avenue where he spent the first 12 years of his life. Ebenezer Baptist Church was the site of Dr. King’s baptism and ordination, and was where he served as co-pastor with his father, Martin Luther King Sr., until 1968.
When Dr. King was president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, he headquartered the SCLC in the Prince Hall Masonic Temple building, effectively making the temple an organizational site of the campaign to end segregation.
